Today is Walter Hewlett’s last day as a director of Hewlett-Packard, and he won’t be around to say goodbye. In fact, when HP shareholders meet this afternoon to elect a new eight-member board, no Hewlett or Packard will be on the ballot—the first time the founding families have been excluded from the governance of the company since it was founded in 1938.
