G. K. Chesterton (1874-1936) was one of the most prolific writers of the early 20th century. The American Chesterton Society exists to revive interest in his work and writing. Here’s a bibliography that will get you started. Orthodoxy was written in 1908.
In 1910 he wrote this:
Christianity has not been tried and found wanting; it has been found difficult and left untried.
